My Background
I was appointed as a substantive NHS consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a specialist interest in the Shoulder and Elbow at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in August 2016.
I completed my higher surgical training on the East of England which included two years at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and four years at other regional centers. I then completed a comprehensive shoulder and elbow fellowship at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital.
I have further augmented my training with several visitations to European centre of excellence in Germany, Switzerland Italy and Spain.
I am an educational supervisor for higher surgical trainees on the East Anglian Orthopaedic rotation and have a formal mentoring role both in the Eastern Deanery and also for the University of East Anglia Medical School.
I have a specialist interest in surgery to the shoulder and elbow. The majority of my shoulder surgery is performed arthroscopically (keyhole) which allows a quicker rehabilitation. This includes repairs to the tendons of the shoulder (Rotator Cuff), arthroscopic release for frozen shoulder and arthroscopic stabilisation procedures. I also perform high volumes of shoulder replacements. I provide a full range of elbow surgery including the surgical management of arthritis of the elbow, tennis/golfers elbow and surgery on the ulnar nerve. My practice also includes a significant volume of trauma. I also therefore provide a specialist upper limb trauma service. This includes the management of both fractures and damaged ligaments around the shoulder, elbow and forearm.
I perform approximately 400 shoulder and elbow operations each year across both my NHS and Private Practice
I perform approximately 50 shoulder replacements each year across both my NHS and Private Practice
